MEV Camper Motor‑Control Integration with Tow Vehicle
Smart Electric Assist, Regeneration, and Safety Architecture
The MEV Camper connects to the tow vehicle through a dual‑link system that combines standard RV wiring with MEV’s advanced Smart Tow Connector. This allows the camper’s electric drive axle, braking, charging, and safety systems to operate as a coordinated extension of the tow vehicle.

Connection Architecture
Tow Vehicle Interfaces
7‑Pin Trailer Connector

Lighting, brake lamps, turn signals

Basic 12V supply for legal compliance

MEV Smart Tow Connector

CAN‑FD high‑speed communication

12/24V low‑voltage control power

Emergency‑stop and safety interlock

Trailer brake command signal

Charge‑enable signal for controlled energy transfer

MEV Camper Control Module
Receives vehicle data and manages all onboard systems:

Motor inverter / e‑axle controller

PowerVault™ battery management

Regenerative braking controller

Suspension and stability sensors

Solar + shore‑power charger

MEV OS™ diagnostics and display

How the System Works
The tow vehicle continuously sends speed, braking, steering, and drive‑mode data to the camper via the Smart Tow Connector. The camper’s controller uses this data to determine when to:

Assist the tow vehicle with electric torque

Coast to reduce drag

Regenerate energy during braking or downhill travel

Apply braking for stability and safety

Electric Assist
During acceleration, hill climbs, or heavy loads, the camper’s e‑axle provides controlled torque to reduce strain on the tow vehicle.

Regenerative Braking
During deceleration or descents, the e‑axle becomes a generator, feeding energy back into the PowerVault battery system.

Safety Architecture
The camper’s high‑voltage traction battery remains fully isolated. Only low‑voltage control and safety signals pass between the vehicle and camper.

Key protections include:

Automatic motor shutdown on hitch disconnect

Shared emergency‑stop signal

Redundant brake‑controller logic

CAN‑FD communication fault detection

Battery isolation monitoring

Torque reduction during sharp turns, sway, or low traction

Automatic park‑lock when disconnected

MEV Drive Modes
Tow Assist Mode — Adds torque for hills, merging, and heavy loads

Range Saver Mode — Minimizes drag and optimizes energy use

Regenerative Descent Mode — Captures downhill energy and stabilizes speed

Camp Mode — Locks out the e‑axle; PowerVault runs HVAC, HEPA/UV air, water purification, appliances, and campsite power

Emergency Move Mode — Low‑speed self‑propulsion for precise campsite positioning via MEV app or wired controller

Recommended Connector Package
Standard 7‑pin RV connector (lighting + basic braking)

Sealed MEV Smart Tow Connector (CAN‑FD, control power, interlocks, diagnostics)

Locking high‑current charging connector (optional vehicle‑to‑camper charging)

Independent breakaway cable with emergency braking battery

Weatherproof quick‑disconnect hardware rated for mud, snow, vibration, and road salt
